– HISTORIC NOTE –

The Thonet Brothers revolutionized the furniture industry in the mid-19th century when founding father Michael Thonet invented the industrial bentwood manufacturing process.

Thanks to the new manufacturing process, the entire furniture industry was reinvented. The manufacture of a chair using curved wood was no longer a long and expensive artisanal process. Now it was possible to mass-manufacture high-quality chairs using his new method.

His sons created the Gebrüder Thonet or Thonet Brothers company and expanded into the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.

From this the world of chair and armchair design opened up and from here a whole collection of Thonet chairs was born. We can find Thonet chairs and armchairs in all corners of Europe. The results of its expansion occupied bars and restaurants. For example, the famous Thonet chair number 14 was the queen of Paris, and in each house, patio and palace there was a space to add an original Thonet chair.
