Description
Wooden antique red chest with original lock (France, c.1920). #9
This antique red chest was built with solid pine wood using the dovetail technique.
The metal lock is believed to be the original lock and is still intact. As per the construction of this wooden chest, we highlight its “dovetail” assembly characteristic of past times when the use of glue was practically non-existent.
The construction of furniture was based on the perfect sizing and fit of different pieces of wood, and the “dovetail” assembly was one of the star assemblies in the art of carpentry.
We love its irreplicable red patina with shades of wine red and vermilion red (among others).
