Small antique chest made of dark wood with original lock (France, c.1900). #14
This antique small chest was built with solid pine wood using the dovetail technique.
The metal lock is believed to be the original lock and is still intact. As per the construction of this wooden chest, we highlight its prized “dovetail” assembly, characteristic of past times when the use of glue was practically non-existent.
The construction of furniture was based on the perfect shaping and fitting of different pieces of wood. The “dovetail” assembly was one of the star assemblies in the art of carpentry.
We love its irreplicable patina with black and brown tones.
