Magnificent Japanese kyōdai-bako from the late Meiji-early Taishō period (c. 1890-1925), made of solid keyaki (Japanese elm) wood with elegant visible grain and original worked brass hardware.

The top lid encloses a traditional mirror, and the front doors open to a compartment lined with antique Japanese printed paper, a period practice applied to reinforce the wood and preserve the interior.

The carved base and ornamental hardware give balance and refinement to this unique piece, typical of Japanese domestic culture for storing personal effects and delicate objects.

A highly decorative historical piece, perfect for wabi-sabi interior design projects, japandi or oriental furniture collections.
