With an estimated age of one hundred and fifty years, we have managed to assemble a small collection of antique benches made of solid elm wood. All different, all unique, all special, one of a kind pieces… It has been a giant undertaking of patience, time and decisions. The collection and final selection of several examples of antique wooden benches has been very successful. Each antique wooden bench has similar dimensions, although there are no two exactly the same. Each piece of our wooden entrance benches are made of solid elm wood. They preserve the original and handcrafted assembly of the 19th and 20th centuries.
With its sinuous curves and distinct shape, the oriental style of the Qing dynasty is highlighted in every inch.
Each antique bench has been individually restored based on its own needs. For example, in some benches the original assembly was damaged and the affected part was rebuilt while maintaining its original condition as much as possible. We also found antique benches with some varnish or layers of paint applied by their former owner. In these cases we applied an artisan stripping process with the aim of raising the nobility of the original wood. We have found other antique benches in perfect condition and it was only necessary to apply beeswax to fill the pores of the solid elm wood and thus enable them to withstand a hundred more years of life. Each bench, with its uniqueness and exclusivity, with its own imperfections and wounds of time, adds its particular personality and fills the space with a singular force.
