Authentic Japanese choba-dansu (帳場箪笥) from the Meiji/Taishō period (c. 1890-1920). This type of furniture was traditionally used in stores and businesses to store accounting documents, stamps, tools and valuables.
Made of Japanese sugi wood with original wrought iron hardware, it retains an extraordinary patina and natural marks of use that reflect its history and authenticity. Its layout of small drawers and the large bottom drawer show a clear organizational function, typical of late 19th century Japanese mercantile furniture.
A piece of strong aesthetic presence and great historical interest, perfect for wabi-sabi interior design projects, japandi or contemporary spaces that seek character and authenticity.
The state of conservation is optimal, except for the characteristic imperfections of any antique produced by the passage of time.
