Antique Japanese chest of drawers from the Meiji period (ca. 1870-1900), made of sugi wood (Japanese cedar) with original wrought iron fittings.

The original handwritten labels in Japanese indicate professional inventory, reflecting actual use in a Meiji period workshop or trade.

This piece, known as ko-dansu was traditionally used to store documents, personal utensils or household belongings. Its compact format and functionality reflect 19th century Japanese aesthetics, where simplicity and order were fundamental.
