Description

Antique transparent colored glass vase made of molten glass (France, c.1900).

This antique glass vase is estimated to be around 120 years old. It was used for the storage of all kinds of food. Our glass vase is cylindrical in shape and has a height of 44cm and a diameter of approximately 22cm.

It was recovered from central France in a perfect state of preservation.

It is a unique piece of antique glass, handcrafted according to the standards of the time using the blown glass technique.

It should be said that it is currently difficult to find pieces of this age preserved this well.

We love the bluish tinge of the transparent glass.

— HISTORIC NOTE —

The blown glass technique is a manufacturing technique that dates back to the 1st century BC.

It is characterized by using the soap bubble method, that is, bubbles are created in the raw material of the glass. The bubbles are created by literally blowing the molten glass then working it with various metal tools until the desired shape is achieved.

With the use of different minerals and chemical compounds, different colors and characteristics are achieved.

There are currently few companies able to continue to use this type of manufacturing due to its cost and difficulty.

This antique cast glass vase can continue to be used as a food storage vase or as a decorative glass vase in any of your favorite spaces.

Our antique vases are unique pieces specially selected to be part of timeless spaces and combine perfectly with one of our sideboards and antique cabinets .
