Linen grain sacks were formerly used throughout Europe for their strength, durability, and functionality. Our antique linen sacks of grain were used mainly for the storage of flour.
The lands and properties were divided into several landowners. During the harvest, the wheat of each landowner was taken to the mill to produce flour. Each landowner or family used a different linen sack that was differentiated by a signature on each sack. This signature was basically the play of colors, lines and thicknesses of each line of colors that was printed on each bag.
For this reason, each blue stripes cushion comes from a unique batch of old sacks. Some antique sacks have two narrow lines, others combine wide central lines with narrow lines, other vintage cushions have lines in the center and on the sides, and so we could say endless combinations for each antique linen cushion.
They match perfectly with more natural linen cushions and with the wabisabi style of our antique stools and of our antique benches.
