Description
Linen cushion with red stripes handcrafted from antique flour sacks.
DOES NOT INCLUDE THE CUSHION PAD.
Natural linen sacks were formerly used throughout Europe for their strength, durability and functionality. Our antique natural linen cushions have been sewn from linen grain sacks that were used mainly for the storage of flour. Years ago European lands and properties were divided into several landowners. During the harvest, the wheat of each landowner was taken to the mill to produce flour. Each landowner or family used a different linen sack, each sack differentiated by a signature pattern. This signature pattern was basically the play of colors, lines and thickness of the lines printed on each bag.
For this reason, each natural linen cushion is unique. Some red cushions have two narrow lines, others combine wide central lines with narrow lines while other antique cushions have lines in the center and on the sides. It could be said that there are endless combinations for each linen cushion.
They combine perfectly with the wabi-sabi style of our antique stools and of our antique benches.
