Linen sacks of grain were formerly used throughout Europe for their strength, durability, and functionality. Our antique linen grain sacks were used mainly for the storage of flour.
Historically, European lands and properties were divided into several landowners. During the harvest, the wheat of each landowner was taken to the mill for flour production. Each landowner or family used a different linen sack, differentiated by its own signature. This signature was basically made up of the play of colors, lines and thickness of each line printed on each individual bag. For this reason, each of our vintage cushions made of linen sacks is different and unique.
Some antique sacks have two narrow blue lines, others combine wide central lines with narrow lines, while other vintage cushions have lines in the center and on the sides. As a result of this aged tradition, there exist endless combinations for each vintage blue cushion.
They combine perfectly with the wabisabi style of our antique stools and of our antique benches.
