— HISTORICAL CURIOSITY —
The original design has been preserved on the fronts of each door showing a typical social scene from the Imperial Chinese era. The Chinese imperial government system was based on a hierarchical structure of its bureaucracy in which only the most capable citizens could become officers of the Empire. Strict entrance examinations were necessary to enter the bureaucratic machine and thus reach an elite position within Chinese society. We could say that it was based on an incipient meritocracy although, as one can guess, there were always some revolving doors in the system.
Antique wooden sideboards are ideal as decoration furniture in your living room and even as hall furniture in your home or in an office. It can also be combined with one of our antique chests and trunks from our AMARU selection.
