Original Japanese low table from the Shōwa period, conceived for everyday use at floor level, functioning as a work, writing, or support table within traditional Japanese interiors. Crafted from Japanese chestnut and cedar, it features a sturdy and stable structure, with a wide tabletop that retains an intense patina deeply shaped by use.

Integrated front drawers add functionality without disrupting the formal clarity of the piece. Visible wear, scratches, and the textured surface contribute to a strong wabi-sabi aesthetic, reinforcing its authenticity and expressive character.

Ideal for use as a coffee table, reading table, or sculptural element in contemporary, Japanese, or brutalist and organically inspired interiors.

During the Shōwa period, many domestic activities in Japan were still carried out at ground level. Low tables of this type were integral to everyday life, combining functionality, durability, and a sober aesthetic, conceived for sustained use rather than ornamentation.

The state of conservation is optimal, except for the characteristic imperfections of any antique produced by the passage of time.

Give a point of originality to your home with a unique piece, which merges with the contemporary style bringing personality to your home. This antique Japanese side table can be combined with any of our trunks or with our available antique wooden bowls.
