Small antique chest made of green wood (France, c.1910). #6
This antique chest was built with solid pine wood using the dovetail technique.
The metal lock is believed to be the original lock and is still intact. As per the construction of this small chest, we highlight its “dovetail” assembly characteristic of past times when the use of glue was practically non-existent.
The construction of furniture was based on the perfect sizing and fit of different pieces of wood, and the “dovetail” assembly was one of the star assemblies in the art of carpentry.
