– HISTORIC NOTE –
The ancient Chinese Empire was for many centuries a benchmark in the manufacture of vases and articles made of ceramics. World famous were his Chinese porcelain vases, where they were appreciated by the European royal elites as a symbol of power, status and social position.
Ceramics per se is known globally although the details of the manufacture and especially the distinction between different qualities of ceramics remain quite unknown to the public. In general lines, two large groups can be distinguished: low temperature firing ceramics and high temperature firing ceramics. Porcelain is the example of high temperature firing that begins to cook from 1000 degrees. On the other hand, ceramics composed basically of clay are fired from 400 degrees and do not have the hardness that porcelain can have. For this reason, low-temperature ceramics have had a basically ornamental use.
