This antique Japanese low tansu chest dates from the late Taishō to early Shōwa period, a time when Japanese domestic furniture was defined by practicality, balanced proportions and everyday functionality.

The piece is crafted from paulownia wood, combined with Japanese cedar in structural elements—materials valued for their lightness, stability and natural resistance to humidity. It features a clear and functional layout with two upper compartments fitted with sliding doors and a lower section composed of three drawers, designed for daily storage needs.

Original metal fittings and clean, restrained lines emphasize its utilitarian and timeless character. Thanks to its low and elongated format, this tansu is especially versatile and can be used as a media unit, storage bench, low sideboard or auxiliary cabinet in a variety of interiors.

A well-balanced and honest piece, marked by a soft natural patina, ideal for interiors seeking authenticity and calm Japanese aesthetics.

The state of conservation is optimal, except for the characteristic imperfections of any antique produced by the passage of time.

Give a point of originality to your home with a unique piece, which merges with the contemporary style bringing personality to your home. This antique low Tansu can be combined with any of our kitchen islands or with our available antique benches.
