This Japanese low cabinet dates from the Taishō period (1912–1926), a quietly transformative era in Japan, when tradition and openness to the outside world began to coexist more naturally. Domestic interiors evolved during these years, becoming more flexible and attuned to everyday life, reflecting a changing society.

Made from paulownia wood (Paulownia spp.), valued for its lightness and stability, this piece embodies that balance between practicality and calm. Traditionally used to protect precious belongings, paulownia brings a sense of softness and restraint. The cabinet is arranged with two sliding-door compartments and three lower drawers with original metal handles, following a functional logic rooted in simplicity and use.

Its warm patina, visible grain and gentle wear tell a story of time rather than age. This is a piece that conveys stillness and intention — well suited as a low cabinet, sideboard or media unit in interiors seeking depth, authenticity and quiet presence.

The state of conservation is optimal, except for the characteristic imperfections of any antique produced by the passage of time.

Give a point of originality to your home with a unique piece, which merges with the contemporary style bringing personality to your home. This low cabinet with antique sliding doors can be combined with any of our console tables or with our available antique tv furniture.
