This small antique Japanese cabinet dates from the late Taishō to early Shōwa period, a time when Japanese domestic furniture focused on practicality, balance and long-term use.
The cabinet is crafted from paulownia wood, valued for its lightness, dimensional stability and natural resistance to humidity. It features a well-considered layout with two upper hinged doors opening onto a compartmented interior with shelf, and a lower section composed of drawers of varying sizes, designed for everyday storage.
Original metal fittings and clean, restrained lines emphasize its utilitarian character. Thanks to its compact proportions, this cabinet is highly versatile and can be used as an auxiliary cabinet, entryway storage, bedroom piece or even in a kitchen or bathroom setting.
A simple and well-balanced piece, marked by a soft natural patina, ideal for interiors seeking authenticity and understated Japanese design.
The state of conservation is optimal, except for the characteristic imperfections of any antique produced by the passage of time.
