— CURIOSITIES —
Tea is China’s quintessential drink. China calls herself as the Empire of the Center. The “China” in chinese is composed by two characters zhong guo 中国. The first character zhong means “in the middle” and the second character guo means country: The country in the middle of everything. Tea in China is mostly classified between red tea and green tea (yes, yes, there is also so-called white tea… but I leave that for another day…). There’s one thing that always surprised me in China: washing the cutlery and utensils of the restaurant where you’re going to eat with the tea they serve you themselves. Sounds strange, doesn’t it? Well, that’s right!
The same restaurant offers you a teapot full of green tea (usually green tea in these cases) and a bowl for each diner to rinse their cutlery giving them a small taste of green tea.
This antique bedside table is ideal as a decoration piece of furniture. And it’s going to give him personality in a small space in his house. You can also combine it with one of our antique chests and trunks.
