Black coffee table made of antique solid wood.
This coffee table for the dining room is inspired by an antique oriental style table and built by our artisans. We have used antique elm wood that is over a hundred years old and we have applied a matte black lacquer simulating natural aging. We only built two copies to see what the final effect would be. The solid elm wood gives it just the robustness we were looking for. We have also used ancient carpentry techniques in the handcrafted assembly so that the visual and tactile effect is as close as possible to that of an antique coffee table. We have to say, we had some doubts about whether to leave the natural color of the antique wood or apply a few layers of black paint simulating the stress of the passage of time; we love the way it looks!
In the final result, we highlight the various imperfections and cracks seen in the wood surface due to our selection of antique cracked wood.
